Still no baby

Monday, March 17th, 2008

So our daughter’s due date was last Saturday, but she’s been somewhat reticent to join us in the outside world. We’re expecting her at any point in the next few days, though, so I may disappear from pretty much everything rather suddenly. Consider yourself duly warned.

The hardest day

(If you read this blog for the technical bits - or have a dog - you might want to skip over this post. It’s one of those blogging-as-catharsis things that many people hate.)

Yesterday was one of the hardest days I can ever remember having. Lacie and I had to make the decision to put our dog Daisy to sleep.

Too. Many. Ideas.

Do you ever have one of those stretches where your head is just overflowing with ideas - things to build, to write, to learn, to do?

I’m in one of those at the moment, but I’m so fully booked by existing commitments that I can’t take any action on most of ‘em - so I write them down as I can, and hope that they’ll still be appealing when I get through all the work I already have to do. Frustrating.

Lacie and I went for a third-trimester ultrasound on Thursday, and we came out of it with both a new appreciation for the technology involved and a couple of neat, three-dimensional pictures of our baby’s face. This one’s my favorite.

Less than two months to the due date now!

Ben in Italy

That’s right - after a mere 16 hours from (home) door to (hotel) door, I’m settled in Pisa for a couple of days of Rails (that’s Italian for Rails, btw).

I’m excited, but also dead tired - so I think I’ll take a nap. Expect a conference recap soon!
